One of my clients shared today that she’s been beating herself up about how she “doesn’t care anymore” ever since lockdown began. This woman is one of the most caring, passionate people I know, so I pushed back and I invited her to take a closer look.
“What if it’s not that you don’t care anymore? What if, without all that overwhelming outside stimuli, your values system has just naturally recalibrated to focus on what really matters to you? And that stuff, you know, really doesn’t?”
When we dug in, we discovered that she had stopped engaging in the stuff she used to do purely for other people’s benefit (because now she doesn’t have to). The truth she found is that she’s actually now more freed up to focus on stuff she really DOES care about. It was one of those “holy shit” moments that makes coaching so much damn fun. “You have to write a post about this,” she told me, so I am!
Here’s my question for you: What are you making yourself wrong for? What if there’s actually a “holy shit” moment on the other side of it if you just look with different eyes?
You have an open invitation to borrow my eyes and see yourself from a different perspective. I’m on a mission to serve 100 people in 100 days through powerful coaching conversations focused on clarity and transformation. If you’re ready to stop making yourself wrong and uncover how powerful you really are, let’s talk. If you know someone who would benefit from this kind of conversation, send them my way.
